Did anyone know that was coming? Jimmy Smits narrated it - beyond his b-ball bio much about his life in Puerto Rico. Some nice video from the '77 FF. About a 5 minute discussion about him with the guys. Pretty cool.

Gotta love YouTube.
New York Public School championship game from 1973. Butch Lee's junior year. Steve Sheppard (Maryland) is on the team with Butch and Haaren High School is represented by Lynbert "Cheese" Johnson who played at Wichita State. I think Johnson must have been a sophomore and had some interest from Marquette.
That was totally cool especially when Kenny was talking about Butch as his idol. We were so fortunate. Watched the '77 Championship again last night--still get nervous. We are.....
"He understands Justice under God"--Augustus Cornelius Johnson
That was a really nice piece. So many great memories. Butch was very humble in that piece. He would take over a game. I loved watching him play.
Butch was the player of the game in one of those high school all-star games that were precursors to the McDonald's AA game - Dapper Dan maybe or the one in MD? In any event Moses Malone was in that game as well.
People say he was a bust in the NBA, but for his knee injury I think he could have been more than decent - averaged 10 points a game his rookie year with the Hawks. And there was that connection to that MU cheerleader, but that is neither here nor there...
Is the special on Butch from the weekend online anywhere? Can't find it.
