I think we have all been somewhat delusional about the hiring of a head basketball coach. Who would take the job without talking to the new school president and AD? The table is being set and now the school should be able to do the hire with a complete set of assets in place.

Agree with Tulsa here. Hiring the coach first would be a tail wags the dog kinda thing. My presumption is that the Pres and AD are informally on board, and the timetable needed to be moved up to accomadate the coaching issue. They may have already been part of the coaching search?

I still don't think Smart comes to MU. I refuse to get my hopes up. Hope I'm wrong. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed.

President has already been named. AD probably will not come for a while. My guess is Howland. Him and Lovell use to work together at Pitt.
