    Usually what happens with these is that the provider designs things within the bounds of the school's "identity standards." Here is Marquette's.

    The bird head logo is an approved athletics logo. Now of course Marquette has the right to veto anything, but when Nike comes to you and says "here is what I think you should do," most schools generally say "sure."

    As I read the standards, the eagle is just supposed to be used on promotional items and is specifically prohibited from being used on uniforms. I don't get it, but that is what it says.

    Yeah it does....but it also says "reserved for use on approved merchandising applications only."

    In other words "when Nike suggests it."
