Dickey Simpkins

Curt Gowdy was considered an all time great and he had a lot of Dicky Simpkins moments. Who can ever forget the great "Bernard Tone"?

Must have said it 10 times that game. Curt had a little Harry Carey in him as far as the imbibing goes. I'm surprised he and Forest Tucker and/or Phil Harris didn't shoot themselves or each other in an episode of American Sportsman.

Overall, I like the Fox announcers, but I can't imagine there was a bidding war over Simpkins. Did ESPN let his contract expire and Fox picked him up cheap or something? He is pretty weak.
