MU to Play Georgia Tech in First Round

Will play Michigan State/Rider in the second round.

Hopefully this isn't a Maui situation again (lost to Butler, then had to face a terrible Mississippi State team and then average USC team in final game). Had Clarke's miracle not gone in, would have faced UNC in the second game and then possibly Illinois.

Gotta beat Ga Tech. If not, could potentially face Rider and then Rhode Island or Santa Clara.

missed out on the extra game it looks like? KS and MSU got a extra game.

Losing four of their top five scorers from a team that finished about .500 last year. Pretty much has been a disappointment under Brian Gregory, who finished his third year there after leaving from Dayton. Very much on the hot seat.

I have no idea who they are bringing in as freshmen but I would think Marquette should win this even without Fischer.

They are bringing in former MU target Ben Lammers. Other than that, not quite sure.

Marcus Georges-Hunt will be the man to watch. A bit of a do-everything swing player that is the leading returning scorer after seeing three major players graduate and another transfer to Maryland. Their expected starting backcourt of Solomon Poole and Chris Bolden are incredibly inefficient. Derrick Wilson was notably more efficient on offense than either of them were last year and both are turnover-prone.

They have two promising sophomores, Travis Jorgenson was a three-star point guard who is coming off a season-long injury and power forward Quinton Stephens will likely be asked to fill much of the void left by departures. In addition to Lammers, they also have a four-star combo guard in Tadric Jackson who could be asked to do a lot early, again due to departures.

Either way, a very raw team, and full of journeymen. While they have seven players on the roster that are 6'8" or taller, six of those players have never played a game for Georgia Tech. Two freshmen, two transfers who sat out, two graduate transfers. Very odd roster that will still be getting to know each other when we face them.
