Couldn't help but feel proud of Vander when accepting his Most Improved Player Award. For a 19 year old kid to get up in front of a crowd in excess of 300 people, and expose himself for some of the errors he has made during his time at Marquette. That took HUGE stones! Talked about how he was not only working to be a better basketball player, but also a better student and better person. He apoligized for screwing up and asked that we be patient as becoming a man is a long process and doesn't happen overnight. From where he came from, to where he is at now- if he can make another step forward, we are going to have one heck of a leader on our team next year. It is absolutely awesome to see his growth, even with the bumps int the road. Maybe his tweet yesterday about "change is good" has everything to do with the process of him maturing. Can't wait to see him next season.
