Often times without media attention. Buzz seems to genuinely care about so many. I think Buzz lives by the motto, "To whom much is given, much is expected." Really cool and stories like these make me appreciate him as our coach even more.

I shared this on premium, but almost two years ago, something very difficult happened in my life. Buzz became aware of it and reached out repeatedly with advice and profound empathy-- more than any other person in my life, and I do not know Buzz personally. The depth of his soul and his embrace of cura personalis given the constraints of his job were awe-inspiring. There was a genuine nature to it too. He was good to me simply because he knew I needed it (or because it might help), not because it looked good to others.
I'm very thankful he is our coach, and I hope he is at Marquette for decades. No matter where he goes in life, though, I am a big Buzz Williams fan. We are blessed to have him.
