As it looks likely that MU won't make the NCAA tournament barring a huge turn around is it likely that we would get an NIT home game? It's been so long that I can't even remember how the NIT is structured... That says something about where this program has been the last few years!

Complicating factor in the NIT home game is that the BC will be hosting the opening rounds of the tournament.

Marquette is a big name with a better than average fan base, if the NIT is how it plays out MU would likely get 1-2 home games, either at the BC or at the Arena.

MU has its personnel dedicated to the NCAA stuff. May not be able to pull off NIT in the same time frame.

Not sure MU would draw very well for a NIT game. We have been spoiled, a lot of MU fans have bought NCAA tickets, and there is only so much to go around.

Based on the attendance last night, I doubt any students would show up for the game. Might be a better move to have MU play on the road at a school for whom an MU game would be a bigger draw.

I watch the NIT every year because I watch basketball seven days a week. The NIT show is at 8pm on ESPNU.

Now, the NIT has changed in the past five years. CM Newton is the head of the chair.
1) It is now seeded 1-8 and their are 4 different regions. Lower seeds 1 thru 4 get the home games.

2) It's alot harder to get into the NIT. Reason>> If you win the regular season for your conference and don't win the conf. tourney for the auto-bid to the ncaa tourney, you get an auto bid to the NIT. Char. Southern, Robert Morris, Norfolk State, Stony Brook, Northeastern, LBSU, La. Tech & Mercer make the NIT field with auto-bids from winning the regular season in their league.

People would love to play the game at the Al. NIT first round games with only 2 days to sell tickets draws around 2,000 to 3,000.

The AL would be awesome. Not to mention they would get all parking and concessions revenue, which might help offset the couple thousand seat loss we'd see (I'm assuming no more than 5K for an NIT game at the BC)
