Transfer Rate
I did a bit of research into the Big East recruiting class from 2009. As best I can tell, the 16 schools in the BE at the time recruited exactly 50 freshmen from high school/prep school that year.
Of those 50, 27 transferred after their freshmen, sophomore, or junior year. That comes to 54%!
One of those was Oriakhi, who left UConn due to the school's post-season ban. But even if we take him out for special circumstances, the figure is still 52%.
On top of that, four players left early to enter the NBA draft. Two of those players - Stephenson and Hollis Thompson - were drafted, but two others - Cheek and Wayns - were not. That means that of the original 50, only 19 were still on campus playing for the team that originally signed them.
I find these figures a bit depressing, but that's pretty much what D-1 hoops has come to.
Look at MU's Class from '09. Junior is the only one of five freshmen who did not transfer.
