Sports in New Big East - Men

If Butler / Xavier / Creighton are indeed the schools added, here is a breakdown of the sports in which the New Big East teams participate.

Interesting that Richmond is the only one of the four that plays Lacrosse, and Richmond has 9 mens sports (the other 3 all have 7), more than all but G-Town and Villanova in the C7.

    Men
    Basketball - All
    Soccer - All
    Golf (9) - No Prov
Cross Country (9) - No St. Johns
    Tennis (8) - No Prov / SH
    Baseball (7) - No Prov / DePaul / MU
Track (7) - No Creighton / St. John / SH
    Lax (5) - In Vill / Geo / St. John / Prov / MU
    Swim (5) - In X, Vill, Geo / Prov / SH
Football (3) - In Geo, Vill, Butler
4 other one school sports (Sail, Row, Fencing, Hockey)

Sports Richmond / SLU / VCU / Dayton
    Basketball - All
    Soccer - All
    Baseball - All
    Cross Country - All
    Tennis - All
    Track - Rich / SLU / VCU
    Lax - Rich
    Football - Rich / Dayton

5 for Lacrosse is 1 better than the ACC has now. In a sport where there are only 14 games in the season we can certainly make that work though I'd welcome more schools to join us.

I wonder if they've had very preliminary, informal talks that address trying to get a somewhat uniform line-up of non revenue sports so the league is more self-contained, if you will, with the assumption that the schools will have a higher revenue stream in the new Big East.

Added Note: I'm surprised Seton Hall does not have track - I thought they used to have a good program way back when.
