Recruiting battle for Illinois big man
I'm re-reading Doris Kearns Goodwin's, "Team of Rivals." A neighbor of Lincoln's during his teenage years described him this way, "He was a strong, athletic boy, good natured , and ready to out-run, out-jump and out wrestle or out lift anybody in the neighborhood." With the average height for a man back in those days 5-6 to 5-7 -- Lincoln's 6-4 frame would have put in in the range that we look at 7 footers these days. Think of the recruiting battle. Instead of that dumb vampire movie they should have made, "Abraham Lincoln, Slam Dunker." A little brevity for a Thursday morning.

I envision the Fletch-like intro - he's 6'11", but only 6'4" without the stove pipe hat.
