    Theo/Delgado comparisons

Delgado can bug some people, but he is a beast - 23 boards and counting tonight and very reliable in the post.

Do you think Theo can end up being a player in the neighborhood of Delgado? Sure would address a lot of things for MU.

    No.

Delgado was a terrific rebounder even as a freshman. He just had a nose for the ball from the get-go, which is why he was a Top 50 recruit coming out of high school.

Theo has a few of the same physical attributes, especially build, but rebounding is as much mental as it is physical. Delgado anticipates where the ball is going to come off, and his mindset is that any missed shot is his.

Theo does not rebound particular well out of his area. He has physical tools, but at this point the mind set is lacking and so is that critical factor of recognition/anticipation. Some players have it - well a few do - and most do not.

David Boone had it - though not as much as Delgado - and Robert Byrd had it - even though both Boone and Byrd were under-sized. Henry had it (at least in college).

Theo should improve to some degree as a rebounder as he gains experience, but he is not an intuitive rebounder.

I think Jamal will end up being a superior rebounder to Theo, not only because he has superior hops, but because he often attacks the glass when a shot goes up. He is a much better out-of-area rebounder than Theo is, not just because of his quickness, but also because of his mind set. He does a better job of attacking the glass, and he has superior anticipation.
