    S. Carolina and Next Year

Mrs. Gato had a good thought. Our loss to South Carolina had the same feel as our loss to Oklahoma State in Indianapolis in 1993 and our loss to Tulsa in St. Louis in 2002. Both of those losses seemed to lay the groundwork for our NCAA runs in the following year. The players got a taste and it seemed like they weren't deer in headlights the next. I hope she is right!

I have a strong feeling she will be right. But Marquette is still missing a piece or two.

    Joey Hauser is a must.

Right now the loss to South Carolina isn't looking too bad.

Duke's defense is better than MU's. They held SC to 88.

I agree, to a point. Getting into the tournament was very big for the development of the team. Hopefully it helps motivate them during the offseason.

Got the same Tulsa feel. That team lost three contributors as well in Nnamaka, Cordell, and Harris. I think Fisch/JJ/Katin will be a little tougher to replace but we'll see.

I'll feel a lot better if they can land a bigger guard in the spring. Otherwise I fear they'll run into a lot of the same issues as this team did, unless the freshmen are good right away.

Of those 3, JJ may be missed, offensively, more. Why? He was the only one who could consistently get to the rim and finish.

Reinhart will be missed for one big reason - he was the only one on this year's team who could consistently make an entry pass into the post. Others could do it from time to time, but not consistently.

Agreed but hopefully that's part of Markus and Rowsey's PG skill development this summer. Wojo has to know how dismal they were in that arena. Hopefully this summer will have Heldt always looking for the ball as well. There were a number of times this season where he seemed caught off guard having the ball passed to him.
