Likely to come down to Markus and the two guards at SJU, Ponds/Lovett. Those two could split the vote and the fact that Markus might lead his team to an upper division finish makes him the favorite.

Remember that Justin Patton from Creighton is also a redshirt freshman. If Creighton finishes top 2, he probably wins (unless Howard helps Marquette upend a top 4 team).

Oh is Patton eligible for that award? Damn, he quite possibly gets it over Markus then. Otherwise, it's Markus' award to lose imo.

Right now has to be either Markus or Patton. What's impressive is neither of them have fallen off in conference play. My guess is playing on a ranked team would give Patton the edge, though if Markus can keep putting up 20 ppg while killing it from beyond the arc, he has to get consideration.
