Panoske Makes 2016-17 Roster With Maine Red Claws

    MILWAUKEE (Nov. 9, 2016)
    - Former Milwaukee men's basketball standout J.J. Panoske has made the final roster for the Maine Red Claws in the National Basketball Association Developmental League.

Panoske, who was invited to training camp October 31, is among the 12 players listed on the team website to have made the final cuts for 2016-17.

The Maine Red Claws are a professional minor league basketball team based in Portland, Maine. The Red Claws compete in the NBA Developmental League and are affiliated with the Boston Celtics.

Panoske enjoyed a breakout senior campaign last year, setting career-highs by averaging 10.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. J.J. finished seventh in the Horizon League with his 51.3 percent field-goal shooting, ranked third in blocks (1.6 bpg) and 10th in three-point FG percentage at 40.6 percent.

He tallied 826 points and 472 rebounds in his career, tying the program record for most games played at 125. His 82 career starts finished tied for ninth and his 54 blocks as a senior broke the school record, which he set at 41 as a freshman. His 154 career blocks makes him the only Panther to record over 100 in a career and doubled up the old record of 87.

Very happy that JJ was able to make it on an NBDL roster. He deserves a shot at the big time.
