Listened to Marquette Basketball hour last night, some takeaways.

Players are starting to understand how intense you have to be to win in Big East. Marquette has small margin of error, can lose to anyone in conference if they don't bring it.

There were 8 balls on the floor vs Providence, Marquette had the first person down (sometimes multiple players) on the ball everytime.

Zone took Providence out of their rhythm. Last play was best defense Marquette played the entire game.

Cheatham can play all three outside positions, encouraged to keep driving, but can shoot the three.

Matt Heldt has earned the right to play and is going to be a good player.
Works hard at practice and in the weight room.
    Brings it everyday.
Has gone from 17% body fat to 9%. Lost 20 lbs of fat and gained 13 lbs of muscle since July

Wesley Mathews attended practice and addressed the team. Always good to have former players that are pro's address the team. Wesley is the third highest paid player from his draft year.

I loved the Heldt dive and save - great to see a 6'10 kid go all out like that on the floor

That is some of the 'toughness' we talked about MU lacking in the earlier games. Now diving on the ground doesn't make a player tough, but those kind of extra effort and out work your opponent is the type of toughness that Buzz had preached and was successful in instilling in his teams.

Those 50-50 balls can have a great impact on how games turn out whether because of a specific play(s) or the mental aspect of it.

When the game is decided on the last play every possession counts.

Rafferty said that every Cheatham basket this year has been either a layup or a 3.

Looking forward to him adding to his arsenal in the coming years which will make him an even more difficult cover.

If Cheatham continues to improve outside shot, and could add in the pull up jump shot he will be very hard to contain.
Look forward to watching him continue to get better.
