Carolyn Kieger's talented sophomore class should continue to take the program to new heights. A disappointing first-round NCAA tournament loss should serve as motivation for Allazia Brockton, Natisha Hiedeman, Erika Davenport, Danielle King and Amani Wilborn, the top five scorers from last season, who are all back for their junior year.
I only watched the team play once - against DePaul - and I really enjoyed how they played. Like the men's team, the women's team needs to get better defensively, but that will come with experience and increased strength.
The team will miss Yentz, who was a very good outside shooter, but hopefully someone will step up to provide solid back-ups.
Brockton and Wilbourn played on the same AAU team Arike Ogunbawale played on - at least when they were in seventh and eighth grade. That team won a couple of national AAU championships. Not sure if they played together when they were in high school.
If they stay healthy, this group could go a long way in the NCAA Tournament next year and, especially, their senior year.
