It is hard to take any athletic team wearing pink uniforms seriously.
When my daughter was 13 or 14, her soccer team played a team called the Flamingos, which wore pink jerseys. I'd never seen anything like that before. I hate to say this, but that team played like their uniform color.
I get the reason for doing it - certainly a worthwhile cause. But maybe pink head bands instead? or pink wrist bands?
So in our biggest game of the year we are wearing pink jerseys. Angry face emoticon.
This is the kind of thing that gets national pub. Good move.
I like them! We are like the Oregon of football.
Big sales to female fans. You see a ton of pink Rodgers jerseys.
Jamil's mom passed away from breast cancer. Get over it.
Jamil wore some pink shoes one year at the pro am. I think Oregon wore pink shoes for a game.
Jamil said this game always means a lot to him. He said he usually writes his mom's name on his shoes and that he has also learned a lot about cancer over the years. He also said he tries to get involved with any cancer related charities.
To me there is one mistake with the uniforms. The outline of the name and numbers is light blue. Makes the whole thing look faded. If the outline was the dark blue they would look pretty slick. I said that in the media room and several agreed. Davante likes the yellow trim around the bottom.
No, I don't like them, and would have preferred pink shoes or something. But I doubt they will be much of a deal. Didn't Jamil lose his mother to cancer? Might be why he likes them. Perhaps he'll have a great game.
I like them. I get that breast cancer gets a ton of attention, but it's still a worthwhile cause and drawing attention to Marquette basketball is always a good thing. They'll be seen on Fox Sports Live and SportsCenter, no doubt about that. Navy blue trim would have looked better, but still a slick looking jersey.
Probably better than some of those glow in the dark unis Baylor and others have worn.
Not really sure why the angst from some about the uniforms. The fact that two players have a close experience with cancer, I am betting this gets significant play nationally. Add to that, sales after. Smart marketing move, even if some old males do not like it. I doubt you guys who complained are their target market anyway.
The naysayers can watch the game on their old black and white TV's.
I don't mind the jerseys at all, as I said - outline the numbers and name with navy blue and they look great.
get over yourselves ! I love that our team is willing to put on these uniforms, wearing pink makes a statement that there are things in life more important then a basketball game and I consider myself a passionate MU fan ! :)
My wife is a cancer survivor and Marquette's special effort to raise awareness of the fight to find a cure is extremely meaningful for our family. FYI, women like men who wear pink. They think it's sexy so we need to warn the players to watch out for that. ;-)
Great to raise awareness. Just a question. Does MU fund the cost of the unis and shoes or is it funded by the C vs. C organization?
I'm pretty sure Nike provides everything per their agreement.
