I know not Marquette-related, but Wojo just announced Damian Lillard is being traded to the Bucks!:)
Nurkic to Suns, Ayton to Blazers. More info to come.
Big news.

I hate to lose Jrue but obviously a huge move by the Bucks.

Man I hate to give up Holiday, but as the old saying goes, you have to give something to get something.
Our offense just took a huge jump, but will need to offset some of Holiday's great D.
Glad the Bucks aren't just standing pat and are going for it again.
Jimmy whining…….lol

It's Dametime! I loved Jrue's all-around game and leadership, but Lilliard is an "Elite" offensive player. He should be able to prevent those offensive droughts the Bucks were prone to having (especially in the playoffs when teams really D it up).
Wow!! I knew Giannis was always a fan of Lillard (and vice versa), but wasn't sure this would happen. Lillard has 4 more years on his existing contract, Jrue Holiday had one with a player option. More incentive for Giannis to stick around.
Grayson Allen was redundant with Pat Connaughton, no loss there. The Bucks added Malik Beasley as well. Lillard, Middleton and Giannis is quite a Big 3. Still have Brook Lopez anchoring the D.
To echo what has been said....loved Jrue Holiday's leadership, toughness and defensive ability......his postseason numbers offensively were becoming concerning:

Better shooters off the ball when Giannis drives (Lillard, Middleton, Connaughton, Beasley, Portis, Lopez).

With all the unprotected picks dealt through the end of the decade, the Bucks will be heavy in the free agent market for a long time.
They probably need to win a title or two in the next couple years. Dame is 33, so probably a 2-4 year window to get more titles with him (for context, Chris Paul is 38, Wade retired at 37). Giannis probably has a good 6-8 years so if they can keep him happy, as a team they could be at least competitive through 2030 when that last draft swap is. Will make rebuilding post-Giannis much more difficult, though.
While the NBA is not happy about the practice, the Bucks should be able to allow Lillard plenty of rest / load management days and still land one of the top couple seeds in the East. Hopefully that helps extend Lillard's playing days.
A great time to get this deal done. The Bucks open training camp October 3. Certainly more ideal than midseason, right before the trade deadline, with only 2 months before the playoffs begin.
Lillard is one of the few guys in the NBA (Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant) that you have to account for as soon as they cross half-court. Just an unreal, overall offensive player. Great move by the Bucks.
