Nova 28-27 at half.
Halftime show observes that last night's MU game had 60+ free throws and that G'town played last night so they might falter. Our hosts missed the interesting connection: Tim Clougherty was a ref in the MU game last night and a quick glance and it looks like he's doing the Nova-G'town game. If so, how can he do the late game and today's early game? How can he call them so differently?
I write from the confines of The World's Most Famous Arena. Clogherty is calling this game entirely different than last night. No one knew what a foul was last night. Why isn't Clougherty the fourth official?
44-42 Nova 11:42 left.
Wow, what happened? I turned away for a second and now Nova is up 67-53 with 3:39 left.
Looks like Nova will take care of business against G'Town.
Arcidiacano controlled the game. Strong MVP push.
O'Connell doing Butler - PC, meaning we haven't seen Driscoll, Stephans (ugh), Gaffney (double ugh) or Corbett (quintuple ugh) yet unless they are the 4th official at one of the afternoon game. I'll take Driscoll even with the double Ts.
Providence up on Butler 20-15
Butler went on a 15-0 run. 8/12 from three 3/20 from 2 point shots.
Bentil is an animal. Will be surprised if he doesn't go pro.
28 points as Providence leads 56-47 with 9:27 to go.
Not Big East, but I saw Iowa lost to Illinois in conference tournament play.
What the heck happened to Iowa?
Cole Huff going on at MSG.
Seton Hall 43 Creighton 41
This Hall Creighton game is fantastic......right down to the wire
Whitehead is simply a stud. Playing up to the expectations people had last year for him.
GM quandary: It is your pick and Dunn, Whitehead, Bentil and Henry are available--who do you draft?
If I'm the Bucks, I want Dunn.
It's really between Dunn and Henry and I would pick based on the needs of the team. You might be able to get Bentil in the 2nd round (Chad Ford has him a potential late 1st rounder). Whitehead could be had as a free agent. Ford doesn't even have him as a top 100 prospect (unless I completely missed his name). Not that Chad Ford knows everything, but he's usually not that far off.
The Bucks biggest need, if they maintain most of the current roster, is a better shooting point guard than MCW. I think Dunn would fit that bill, but not sure he will be around when the Bucks pick.
Henry would probably play the same slot that Parker plays, so the Bucks are set at that position.
Dunn is not a very consistent shooter. Not sure of his range either.
Long them I really like Whiteheads potential. Dunn needs to improve as a shooter....love his athleticism and defense.
I think Whitehead will come back. I have not seen him in any first round mock drafts, so it would be chancy for him to come out. One more year building on what he and Seton Hall did this year and he could move well into the first round.
Whitehead appears to have the mindset that he can't get to the NBA soon enough, ready or not. He probably saw himself being 1 and done coming out of high school as a McDonald's All-American. I think he declares for the draft after a strong season by both himself and Seton Hall.
For those at MSG, how has attendance been? It looks packed on TV.
I thought so as well for most of the season. With the development of Giannis as a primary ball-handler, and if the Bucks luck out with a high pick, I would consider Buddy Hield.
Giannis may never develop into a consistent outside shooter. Giannis, Hield, Middleton and Parker would be a nice group at the 1 to 4 positions and improves the team's ability to stretch the floor offensively. Hield had 38 the other day against Iowa State. He is seasoned and ready to contribute from day 1.
Rise and fire! The Gus effect is going on!
Bentil fouls out and Providence goes on a 15-3 run
Villanova 55 Providence 53
Watching this, it looks like one Big East tradition carried over: there is something special about the Friday semis. Something every MU fan needs to experience
Very true. While many schools have left and other great ones have came in. The juice is still there!
17,130 attendance for the semi-finals. By far the highest in the new form Big East.
This was like the old BIG EAST. The place was juiced tonight. The Championship game is not as good but Seton Hall vs Villanova might surprise. As fan bases, they are polar opposites and don't really like each other--well, Seton Hall fans hate Villanova. Street fighters vs patricians.
I think having Seton Hall in the title game for the first time in 23 years, will result in many more fans coming to MSG.
A lot of Seton Hall fans there tonight. After the game, the band and a throng of Seton Hall fans had a pep rally outside the Garden. It was actually pretty cool. There are a lot of Villanova fans in town but if more Seton Hall fans come in together with the group they had here for the semis, it could be pretty raucous.
