No other choice at that point.
Senior Day always takes a header with a loss. Fans stream out in droves. Maybe 20% stayed? Probably too generous a figure.
Seemed like MU was surprised St. Johns went into a matchup zone. Jamil was to and NEEDS to take that shot. Passing it off to DWill is all on Jamil. Senior time, right there for you, take it! Don't give it up to the worst shooter on the team. Stunned silence at the end. Summed up the season, what could have been, but no.
Jamil was coming around the screen and got totally stuck - he had no options, Derrick was wide - that shot falls and it looks like an ingenious play. Just didn't happen.
Gardner was flashing open in the lane. I would rather take a chance there than passing to DWill.
If that shot falls, there is not enough emergency personnel available for the heart attacks from shock. There is a reason why St. Johns did not care about DWill on that play. They totally ignored him. The shot was not even close.
Great game and I don't care what anybody says
It was a great game. MU played very well. Overcame the early deficit. Back and forth all the way. Harrison with the killer 3 from deep. That, to me, was the difference.
Happy and proud of the way everyone played. DWill playing with cramps, Jamil on a bum ankle, Tood taking on to the knee. These guys gutted out and it was a fun game to watch. Never quit, down 6 with 11 to go in regulation. A lot to love about this game, but for the final score.
As a Marquette fan you have to be proud of the gut level effort this team put forth at Providence and today against St. John's.
I just watched the play again. Jamil did not have a chance to shoot. Jake was coming free, but it would have been a deep 3. Gardner was the option.IMHO. DWill was wide, so that is where he went. Jamil did not really penetrate. The d was on him too quickly. Originally, I thought he was closer and had a better look. The lane, though, was fairly free as SJU had 3 players out near or past the 3 line.
I don't want to go back in the game thread but was I the only one that thought Mayo was fouled on that last possession of OT? He had a head of steam and then the defender basically bumped him hard off his line.....I mean is it only point of emphasis when its not the last play of the game?
It just seemed so obvious to me that it was a foul
Officials were poor today though I did like the fact that they were reffing like it was the BIG EAST as far as contact is concerned.
That's actually part of the problem I have. Game-to-game, you don't know what you are going to get. Some games, they let everything go. Some games they call it when you breathe on someone. Some games, they change how they ref from the first half to the second half to overtime. If it was like this every game, great, but it's been so inconsistent.
