How bad is Sacar Anim? I can only assume he must be a D3 level player.
If that's not a flagrant 1, what is?
Lol Wally.
X is shooting very very well.
Is x up 20+ rebounds?
Time to let Sacar, Matt and the walk-ins get their Madison Square Garden experience
How is it not offensive goaltending when the rebounder Grabs the ball and it gets caught on the rim?
Bluiett is an excellent player but he is shooting out of his mind. Boys vs men against this team. When they make 11 3s and we make 2 out of 16...
Is it over yet? I stopped watching a while ago.
Wojo playing both Ellensons the last 10 mins of season - this is Wojo's way of saying thank you to Henry and his parents.
Could be, but Wally belonged out there. He played smart, hustled and was a threat on offense. He belongs in the seven-man rotation if MU gets another game.
Does "kneel" allude to your work on your knees for Marquette? Ever the apologist.
Criticism is allowed. Especially on a message board, for a team that won't even make the NIT for 3 years running.
Press Conferences will be coming up on FOX SPORTS GO
So you are now holding Wojo accountable for missing the NIT in Buzz's final year?
It was a complete rebuild...we lost a complete recruiting class and had numerous transfers after Buzz left...if you couldn't see that last year I don't know what to tell you.
We aren't Duke or Kentucky.....we can't change coaches and just reload in 1 year.
Well, we got whipped by a Top10 team tonite. Bucky got whipped by a bad Nebraska team tonite.
In Buzz's first two seasons, he had two teams dominated by four year upper classmen, three of whom ended up playing in the NBA. Wojo had two last year who weren't very talented, and none this year.
Buzz filled the gaps in the recruiting classes with Jucos, which is something much harder for Wojo to do.
They really aren't similar situations at all.
Then compare it to what Buzz had at Virginia Tech. He had nothing there and picked up 1 top 100 recruit. This year he has been without 2 of his best players and finished in the top half of the best conference in the country with a 10-8 record.
Cmon.
Virginia Tech went 19-13 (10-8) and had an RPI of 84.
Marquette went 20-13 (8-10) and had an RPI of about 100.
So let's not act like Buzz weaved some sort of magic this year. Virginia Tech had a marginally better season than Marquette did. And sure, Buzz is a better coach than Wojo. He should be. He has more experience.
As I've said before, next year we will have an experienced team, so we won't be able to use the inexperience tag with the group.
Seniors in Luke and JJ
4th year juniors in Wilson and Rowsey
5th year senior in Wally
Junior with experience in Sandy
Sophs Carter, Cheatham who have been starters
Only one frosh at this point in Hauser.
Did he really? Remember we are talking about turning around a program not one year.
Virginia Tech
Zach LeDay 15.1ppg - Junior - transferred in, sat out last year.
Seth Allen 14.6 ppg - Junior - transferred in, sat out last year.
Justin Bibbs 12.1 ppg - Sophomore
Chris Clarke 8.5 ppg - Freshman
Jalen Hudson 7.9 ppg - Sophomore
Justin Robinson 7.6 ppg - Freshman
Kerry Blackshear 6.1 ppg - Freshman
And two of his best in Hill and Outlaw were out all year.
Marquette
Henry Ellenson 17 ppg - Freshman
Luke Fischer 12.1 ppg - Junior
Haanif Cheatham 11.8 ppg - Freshman
Duane Wilson 11.6 ppg - RS Sophomore
Jujuan Johnson 10.2 ppg - Junior
Sandy Cohen 5.9 ppg - Sophomore
Tracy Carter 5.4 ppg - Freshman
Now you guys are telling me Buzz's players had more experience?
Viginia Tech - None of their top 7 players were there when Buzz arrived and none were top 100.
2 Juniors, 2 Sophomores, 3 Freshmen
Marquette - Two of their top 7 players were here when Wojo arrived, another was committed. One McDonald's AA and all others are top 100 players.
2 Juniors, 2 sophomores, 3 Freshmen
Last night they showed the graphic with Marquette as the 8th youngest team in nation, where was Va Tech on that list? Don't tell me Buzz had a "vastly more experienced team".
Also finishing 10-8 and in the top half of the ACC is more than 'marginally better' than finishing 8-10 in the bottom half of the Big East.
The ACC argument is meaningless because the schedule is unbalanced. They beat only 2 of the ranked teams in conference - VA and Miami both at home. Their wins were against some really average teams at best. Given that, could they have done well in a BE with a balanced schedule. I'd argue that they'd do no better than we did.
Fine we'll mark those two as seniors and bump Duane up to a junior.
Marquette still has 1 McD and 6 top 100 while Virginia Tech has zero and zero.
