Creighton was 4-18 from three. That's bad for a perimeter shooting team. Also, PC does have talent and played at home.
McDermott was apparently sick.
Providence only turned it over 5 times, outrebounded them by 8 and as was noted the best 3 point shooting team in the country had an extremely off night from deep......Friars made more free throws then Creighton attempted as well.
Add it up....Friars played great...Creighton laid an egg.....
The Big East is obviously in transition. At least this year, no great teams. No Murderer's Row schedules with four games in a row and five of six against ranked teams. But a whole lot more parity. There are no really bad teams in the conference, so no walk-over wins. Creighton is not that good, nor is Providence that bad. We saw in recent years that they were a team to be reckoned with. I think most of these teams are going to continue to improve, and this conference is going to be pretty exciting in years to come.
Also, don't forget that Creighton lost their good center for at least a few games recently. Lack of his height and rebounding also put more strain on McDermott.
