Your Horizon League Power Poll for December 17th, 2012 and the 2012-13 season, ladies and gentlemen:
1. UIC (7)
2. Valparaiso (2)
3. Detroit
T-4. Loyola
T-4. Wright State
6. Youngstown State
7. Cleveland State
8. Green Bay
9. Milwaukee
Voting panel: Tom Mieskoski (CSU), Reggie Hall (Detroit), Brian Dickmann (Green Bay), Chris Burrows (Loyola), Josh Griesbach (Milwaukee), Lee Kolodziej (UIC), Hank Curry (Valpo), Charles Grove (WSU), Mitchell Friedman (YSU)
Fun facts:
- UIC remained #1 for the second week in a row. While remaining second, Valpo did pick up one point to close the gap a bit.
- Milwaukee set a new low for the poll with only 10 points. Only one voter had them above 9th, and it was not the Milwaukee voter.
- Loyola and Wright State tied for fourth, which is our second tie of the season. They finished solidly behind Detroit and solidly ahead of Youngstown State.
- Cleveland State dropped from fourth to seventh, trading places with Loyola following their bashing at the hands of St. Bonaventure.
- Of the three bottom teams, only Green Bay has been devoid of injuries. Milwaukee missed Paris Gulley for a month and Bobo Niang has been hurting for much of the past month with a back injury, but the real hurting team is CSU - now losing Anton Grady and a slew of other guys to injuries.
