• Bucks Daily - NBA Draft Lottery

From the Milwaukee Bucks Media Relations Staff:

NBA DRAFT LOTTERY – The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery will take place tonight (Wednesday, May 30) at 7 p.m. CDT and will be televised on ESPN. Below are some notes regarding the Bucks history in the lottery:

    • The Bucks enter the lottery with a 0.7% chance of landing the top pick, and a 2.54% chance of moving into the top three. Here's a look at Milwaukee’s odds of landing each possible pick:

    No. 1 Pick: 0.70% No. 12 Pick: 93.55%
    No. 2 Pick: 0.83% No. 13 Pick: 3.89%
    No. 3 Pick: 1.01% No. 14 Pick: 0.02%
    • This year marks Milwaukee’s 15th appearance in the Draft Lottery, which includes the 2003 lottery pick the Bucks received from Atlanta in the Glenn Robinson trade.

    • Milwaukee has won the first overall pick through the lottery twice (1994 – Glenn Robinson; 2005 – Andrew Bogut). The Bucks have never received a No. 2 or No. 3 pick through the lottery.

    • In their 14 previous lottery appearances, the Bucks have remained in the same draft position seven times, fallen five times and improved their position twice (the two No. 1 picks referenced above).

    • If the Lottery holds to form, it will mark the third time in franchise history that Milwaukee has owned the 12th overall pick. The Bucks selected George Johnson (St. John’s) in 1978 and Julius Erving (Massachusetts) in 1972 with the 12th pick.

    • In the 18 years of the current Draft Lottery system (beginning with the 1994 Lottery), the team with the best odds has won the top overall pick just twice (Cleveland in 2003; Orlando in 2004).

    • Under the current lottery system, the lowest seeded team entering the lottery to win the top overall pick was Chicago, which jumped from No. 9 to No. 1 in 2008. The biggest overall jump under the current system belongs to the Charlotte Hornets, who improved from No. 13 to No. 3 in 1999.

    • The Orlando Magic moved from No. 11 to No. 1 in 1993, representing the biggest jump to the top pick in NBA Lottery history, though the format in 1993 was different than it is today.
