• Summer is here and rankings are out

The long weekend is behind us and it is time to get back into hoops. Admittedly I was MIA towards the end of last week, I was in over my head getting everything straight with the Scion Dental Milwaukee Summer Pro-Am. Always comes down to the wire, and with a few unexpected turns we are now in the hands of the NCAA. As soon as the NCAA gives us their blessing, all info will be released.

So - on to hoops.... We will start with high school/recruit rankings as everyone is coming out with their updated rankings, and final rankings for the 2012 class. Anyone's rankings can be skewed, as most national writers see kids at monster AAU events and do not pay much attention to high school ball, so one that I like to pay most attention to as far as the seniors go, is RSCI Hoops. What Jeff Crume does is apply a point system and ties it in to where kids are ranked with Van Coleman (Hot100Hoops), Dave Telep (ESPN), Scout.com, Rivals.com, MaxPreps and PrepStars. So, as it relates to the locals, not a great year......

#19 - Sam Dekker Sheboygan, WI - Committed to Wisconsin - Dekkar was ranked...
    Van Coleman - #14, Dave Telep - #17, Scout.com - #15, Rivals.com - #13, MaxPreps - #30, PrepStars - #31.

#57 - JP Tokoto Menomonee Falls, WI Committed to North Carolina - Tokoto was ranked ....
    Van Coleman - #59, Dave Telep - #70, Scout.com - #75, Rivals.com - #45, MaxPreps - #58, PrepStars - #44.

#82 - Steve Taylor Chicago, IL - Committed to Marquette - Taylor was ranked...
    Van Coleman - #72, Dave Telep - #83, Scout.com - #73, Rivals.com - unranked, MaxPreps - unranked, PrepStars - #84.
(Rivals had Taylor at #109 and MU recruit Jamal Ferguson at #134, but only top 100 rankings apply here)

Dekker's ranking is the highest in the state since Brian Butch finished #7 in 2003.

No surprise that Kentucky once again finished with the #1 recruiting class, but give credit to NC State (#5) and Providence (#9) who are not frequent Top 10 finishers. The Top Ten is was as follows.....
    #1 Kentucky, #2 Arizona, #3 UCLA, #4 North Carolina, #5 NC State, #6 Baylor, #7 Indiana, #8 Michigan, #9 Providence and #10 Duke.

      Couple of questions....

Is MU completely out on Matt Thomas? I thought MU still had some interest.

Also isn't Luke Fischer from Germantown and not Menomonee Falls?

Luke Fischer is from Germantown - too much copy/pasting.

No, MU is not completely out of it for Matt Thomas, but at this point I think they have too much ground to make up to have a legit shot in landing him.
