• Summer Ball starting to heat up

With the Bucks' season ending last week, the official basketball season ended and summer ball is starting to heat up, so let's take a look at the latest in the world of hoops in Milwaukee.

First off, not much has come out of the Bucks' offices at the Bradley Center or in St. Francis, so at this point, we'll assume that both John Hammond and Scott Skiles will be back. So now what will happen to the Bucks over the summer? They need to make some more moves, some free agent signings and hopefully land a higher lotto pick in the NBA draft. The guys at Bucksketball.com take a hard look at tweaking the roster.

As far as the draft goes, NBADraft.net has the Bucks taking Tyler Zeller in round 1 and JaMychal Green in round 2. DraftExpress.com has the Bucks taking Jeremy Lamb in round 1 and Marquette's Darius Johnson-Odom in round 2.

As for the local guys still playing in the NBA playoffs....

    • Dwyane Wade and the Heat are up 1-0 over Steve Novak & the Knicks.
    • Greg Stiemsma and the Celtics are down 0-1 to Atlanta.
    • Lazar Hayward and the OKC Thunder are up 1-0 on Dallas.
    • Jimmy Butler and the Bulls are up 1-0 Philly.
    • Devin Harris and the Jazz are down 0-1 to San Antonio.
    • Caron Butler and the Clippers are up 1-0 over Memphis.

    Marquette Golden Eagles

Marquette announced that sophomore Jamail Jones would be transferring at the end
of the semester. Not sure where Mellow is headed yet, but he is a great kid with a bright future, and we wish him the best wherever he decides to land. On a similar note, MU released incomer Aaron Durley a week ago and Durley is now headed to TCU and the Big XII.

So what is next for MU? Looking for immediate help, Buzz Williams is looking at more transfers. ASU transfer Trent Lockett is expected to announce a decision this week, and it is believed that the two finalists are Marquette and Iowa State. Marquette is also looking at Damontre Harris, a South Carolina transfer, and Eric McClellan, a Tulsa transfer.

In AAU action over the weekend, future Golden Eagles Duane Wilson and Deonte Burton played well for their respective teams. On Saturday playing for the Playground Elite in the Nike EYBL, Wilson put up 43 points against the NY Lightning. Playing for the TP Elite, Deonte Burton put up 32 against the Mac Irvin Fire.

    Milwaukee Panthers

Michael Hunt from JS Online has an article on the future of Milwaukee's athletic department. Some pretty good points are made in the article, but they all sounded a bit too familiar. Perhaps Mr. Hunt reads PantherU?

According to WisHoops.net's Mark Miller, Milwaukee extended a scholarship offer to Homestead's Luke Worthington(ppv).

    Preps

It has been a great week for scholarship offers for Wisconsin kids. Of course most of this comes from Mark Miller at WisHoops.net.... Both Marquette and Wisconsin offered scholarships to Dominican freshman Diamond Stone. Marquette also offered Rice Lake's Henry Ellenson. Sun Prairie's Nick Fuller picked up an offer from Nebraska. Homestead's Luke Worthington not only picked up the offer from UWM, but also Green Bay and a host of others. Miller also has a great recap of quite a few in-state kids from the Chicago Spring Classic in Waukegan over the weekend.
