• Touched Down in Phoenix

Touched down in Phoenix.... beautiful stadium, great atmosphere inside and out, Muhammad Ali in the house, Tony LaRussa & Albert Pujols in the house.... and then there's the ASU student media staff. Wow.

So let's take a look at MU, shall we?

Referees for Marquette vs Florida will be.... Ted Valentine, Randall McCall and Mike Reed

Marquette takes on a very athletic Florida Gator team led by Billy Donovan. Donovan is a great in game coach, recruits a ton of talent, and has a couple of NCAA titles to show for it. The Gators have a 25-10 record, but three of those losses came to Kentucky, and their first two games in the NCAA tournament have been blowouts.

The Gators like to get it up and down court. They score from inside and out, and are one of the best three point shooting teams in the country, throwing darts that connect 38% of the time. PG Erving Walker is an ultra quick guard who is deadly from deep, but also controls the ball very well, and has a knack for finding his teammates, averaging more than four and a half assists per game. The Gators run their back-court similar to Marquette, with a three guard attack. Guards Bradley Beal and Kenny Boynton push the ball and can get to the rim. The two are 1-2 on the team in scoring, combining for 30 points per game. Beal, a freshman, is on the court more than any other Gator, and is a lot like Vander Blue in that the 6'3 guard is an effective rebounder, leading the team with just under 7 rebounds per game.

In the paint the Gators have something that Marquette does not, size. Twin towers Patric Young (6'9) and Erik Murphy (6'10) are big and active. The two combine for 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Young and Murphy control the paint, and will keep Jamil Wilson and Jae Crowder moving throughout the game.

In this one Marquette really needs to apply pressure D well beyond the perimeter. With that, they can't let Florida spread the floor as Murphy and Young are most effective when the have room

Marquette will need to really take it to Murphy and Young. Their bench is very thin in the paint, and with those two on the bench, MU will have no problems getting to the rack.
