• Its Tuesday already? I love March

Wait, its Tuesday already? What a weekend. State high school basketball tournament, Marquette beats Murray State to advance to the Sweet 16, Wisconsin beats Vanderbilt to advance to the Sweet 16, UW-Whitewater wins the DIII title and, don't look now, but the Bucks have won 5 in a row, and 6 of their last 7. What a great time for hoops fans in Milwaukee!!!!!

    Preps

The state tournament came to an end in Madison this weekend, and some of the biggest stars in the state came through.

In Division 1 Milwaukee King gave Germantown everything they had, but the Warhawks closed it out with a perfect season. Having seen them play a few games this year, I have to say they are one of the most balanced teams I have seen in a while. The Warhawks are led by senior Zak Showalter, who will walk on at Wisconsin next year, and junior Luke Fischer, who has already committed to play at Indiana. BrewCityBall's Troy Sparks was in Madison covering the game.

In Division 2 it was standout Matt Thomas who put up 30 points and 11 rebounds in Onalaska's 55-38 win over Kaukauna.

    In Division 3 Brillion beat Gale-Ettrick-Trempeleau 40-35.

In Division 4 it was Duane Wilson and Whitefish Bay Dominican who took it to Cuba City 61-43. The Knights finished the season with only one loss, that coming to Germantown in the WBY Shootout. Wilson hit five three-pointers and finished with 24 points. The standout junior point guard is announcing his college decision at a press conference today, and has narrowed it down to Marquette, Memphis and Missouri.

In Division 5 it was Mr. Basketball Sam Dekker who nailed a deep three pointer with four seconds left to propel Sheboygan Lutheran over Racine Lutheran, 67-66. The future Badger finished with 40 points, 12 of which came in the final minute, bringing his team back from an eight point deficit. 12 points in the final minute? Wow.

    Marquette Golden Eagles

It took everything that they had, but the Golden Eagles beat Murray State 62-53 on Saturday after topping BYU on Thursday. While Buzz Williams' emotional post game press conference made national news, it was the strong defense of the supporting cast that propelled the Golden Eagles in Louisville. Junior Cadougan and Todd Mayo completely shut down Murray State's Isaiah Canaan. BrewCityBall was there and captured plenty of video....

While in Louisville, I couldn't help but do a brief piece on LaCrosse native and former Marquette Golden Eagle Scott Christopherson, who starred for Iowa State this weekend. The Cyclones were finally knocked out by Kentucky, Christopherson had 15 points in that game.

The Golden Eagles are departing for Phoenix today, and will take on Florida on Thursday in the Sweet 16.

    Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers are back in the Sweet 16 after beating Vanderbilt 60-57 on Saturday. The kicker in that game was the play from the bench, as Ben Brust came up with 11 points and 4 rebounds. The Badgers had a very balanced attack as usual, but they had 5 players score in double figures in the game, something you don't often see in Madison.

The guys at Bucky's 5th Quarter did a great job of covering the action over the last few days.

Next up the Badgers take on a Fab Melo-less Syracuse team in Boston.

    Milwaukee Panthers

With the end of a college basketball season comes the new rumors on the national coaching carousel. When will it stop? Who will go where? Jimmy Lemke gives his thoughts on what may lay ahead for Rob Jeter. PantherU also took a look at what is in store for the Horizon League itself.

    Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks have won 5 in a row. Really. The Bucks have won 5 in a row. They trade Andrew Bogut and Steven Jackson and go on a tear. What is really amazing about this, is that the Bucks have put up more than a hundy in 8 of the last 10 games, and averaged just under 113 in their last 5. Drew Gooden was the Eastern Conference player of the week. Tonight the Bucks are back at it in Portland when they take on Wesley Matthews and the Trailblazers.

Have a great week, here are our video and picture of the day....
