• Rob Jeter being courted by Nebraska

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is courting Rob Jeter of the Milwaukee Panthers to be the next head coach of their basketball program.

Nebraska just fired head coach Doc Sadler in a fresh start move, as the Cornhuskers have been underwhelming for most of their history.

The Cornhuskers' fresh start makes the job somewhat of an unknown quantity. Nebraska just joined the Big Ten this season, they opened an $18 million practice facility, and are 18 months from opening a brand-new downtown basketball arena for the program.

Nebraska's program is a winner in nearly every sport outside of men's basketball, and athletic director Tom Osborne has made every indication that is about to change. With the facilities sorted out and a clean slate at head coach, the Cornhuskers could begin throwing money at the basketball program like they never have before - the football program made $30 million profit this season. You can expect a chunk to go to the new basketball coach.

Rob Jeter's record at Milwaukee is nothing strange to the people in Brew City, but his name surfacing has been quoted as "underwhelming" to the Nebraska fan base. Either way, the new head coach will make at least as much as Sadler was making ($900,000), which is nearly $500,000 more than Rob Jeter currently makes at Milwaukee.

Milwaukee's season ended last night in the first round of the CBI to TCU. They finished the season at 20-14.
