This one is an all time classic. I tweeted it last night after I got it from Dan Trecek.....
According to Jeff Goodman, shortly before helping the young reporter out, security, having no idea who he was, asked Buzz to leave the media area. Goodman later tweeted that the Big East reporter had no idea who was holding his camera.
Buzz will never cease to amaze me.
So.....with Marquette in Madison Square Garden, who was Inside The AL? Why Steve Novak, Jeremy Lin and the rest of the Knicks - of course!
Those pics are courtesy of the New York Knicks' Landry Fields' Twitter account
One of our posters, Mayor Beluga, has been tweeting from Madison Square Garden.... His latest cracked me up....
Cincy band playing Soul Man. Makes sense b/c when i think coolness, i think Mick Cronin. #mubb You can find the rest of his tweets right here.
So... On to Marquette vs Louisville.....
Do we need to say anything about how big this matchup is?
- 1996 - Marquette 80-79 2OT - Aaron Hutchins' deep three
- 1998 - Marquette 71-70 - Wardle's shot, Mike Deane, and you think Buzz danced?
- 2001 - Louisville 77-74 3OT - No foul call on Wardle's last three
- 2003 - Louisville 73-70 - Reece Gaines' shot
- 2004 - Marquette 81-80 - Dameon Mason's game winner
- 2005 - Louisville 64-61 - Amo's insane foul & Francisco Garcia's shot
- 2006 - Louisville 67-60 OT - Dominic James running 3 sends it to OT
- 2007 - Louisville 61-59 - Jerry Smith's game winner
On to the Cardinals.....
Louisville advanced to play Marquette after beating Seton Hall 61-55. Not really a score that is typical of a Rick Pitino Louisville team, but the first half was as slow as Jon Harris' free throw motion.
The Cardinals are an extremely balanced team. They played primarily with an 8 man rotation, but now are likely down to 7. How balanced is extremely? Their top six scorers average 12.9. 11.8, 9.9. 9.3, 9.1 and 8.6 ppg. That is about the most balanced scoring attack I have ever seen.
Kyle Kuric and Chris Smith have to be accounted for behind the arc. Both average just under 40% from 3 point land and the pair have combined for 118 triples this season.
Louisville's guards have always been tough, and Peyton Siva is no different. He likes to run, he likes to gun, and he is tough to stop, although when it comes to the Cardinals' back court, keep it in Siva's hands...... The Smiths, Chris and Russ, are capable guards that do not cough up the ball very often, but Siva has been known to cough it up when pressured, so keep the pressure on him. He will either thrive on it, or fall because of it, you will know that answer soon enough.
On the boards Dieng and Behanan are beasts. They will get their fair share of rebounds, the key to the glass is making sure everyone else is accounted for.
Offensively you need to come at them. Dieng makes mistakes and will foul - drive at him, take it to the rim. Getting him in foul trouble will be a key to the game. Also, Siva and Russ Smith have a tendency to foul more often than most. Keep the ball moving, keep attacking the basket and let their frustrations get to them.
Here is the tale of the tape....
