It's March and the Madness has begun....

Biggest local news is Marquette's Jae Crowder being named Big East Player of the Year. Congrats to Jae, he has certainly worked for it and is a class individual both on and off the court. You can see a video interview with Jae here. You can also see the Big East's story about the award as well as Marquette U's story. Crowder is the first Marquette player to win the award, and the first Marquette player to win a conference PoY since Dwyane Wade won the award in C-USA.

    Looking around the net.....

It's a mad mad mad world. You see this where a Georgia prep player gets a 2nd T, booting him from the state tourney? What bothers me about this one is that the ref was behind him - couldn't see his face, couldn't see where he was looking etc. Check it out for yourself.

Never thought of this, but are the actual balls a home court advantage in college basketball?

Nothing like getting "pants-ed" on TV. Drexel's Daryl McCoy had his shorts yanked down after fouling VCU's Treveon Graham. What's worse, is that it sure looks to me like Graham did it on purpose.

How about the new post season Adidas uniforms? UG-LY!

On to the local college teams....

    Marquette

With Crowder being named Big East Player of the Year, the accolades are starting to roll in. Jae is a finalist for the Wooden Award. Bleacher Report lists the 10 players that will get in done in March, Crowder comes in at #4.

Former ND player Zach Hillesland came up with the Big East All-Big East Fear Monger Team. Hilarious. DJO & Jae Crowder clocked in together at #2.

The Golden Eagles clocked in at #9 in both polls, and now await their next opponent in the Big East Tournament. The Golden Eagles will have their eyes on the Seton Hall vs Louisville game tonight, as they will meet the winner tomorrow at 6:00.

Nice to see the Macy's billboard in NYC...

    Milwaukee Panthers

The Panthers are still waiting it out to see if they will receive an NIT bid. While we wait until Sunday night to find that out, get ready for Panther Baseball.

On the Women's side, Sandy Botham & Co fell to Valpo in the Horizon League Tournament.

The men's soccer coaches have been put on administrative leave, sounds pretty serious.

    Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers were ranked #12 in the coaches poll and #14 in the AP Poll this week, and like Marquette, are sitting back, waiting to see who their next opponent will be. Tomorrow Penn State plays Indiana at 1:00, and the Badgers will face the winner of that game on Friday at 1:30.

Congrats to senior Jordan Taylor, selected by the coaches as 1st Team All Big 10. The media on the other hand, put Taylor on the 2nd team. Perhaps those media members should watch a few more games during the year than just the ones they are covering. Jared Berggren and Ryan Evans were Honorable Mention, while Josh Gasser was on the All-Defensive Team.

    Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks found that playing at home was the answer, as they finally snapped their losing streak on Monday, beating the Philadelphia 76ers 97-93. The Bucks are at home tonight against Derek Rose and the Chicago Bulls, game time is 7:00.

Chad Ford on the Bucks trade rumors, is there anyone worth trading?

    Preps

The High School Playoffs are in full swing, and the Wisconsin Sports Network (WisHoops.net) has been releasing the finalists for their awards. Here are the finalists for the Point Guards, Wings and Post Players.

Congrats to Pius' Carrington Love. The 6'1 PG has committed to playing his college ball for Brian Wardle and the Green Bay Phoenix.

That's all for now, here is our......

Video of the Day: Idiot dunking on a Pop-A-Shot.... "Did it go in?" what a tool.
