• Is This Tokoto's Last Stand?

Jean-Pierre Tokoto had a great high school career at Menomonee Falls. He became the all-time leading scorer, passing former Falls star Brad Christensen, who played at Boston College. Tokoto, who signed with North Carolina, has been highly-regarded before high school.

Now his prep career is winding down. It's not a matter of if it will happen but when it will happen. Could it happen tonight against Germantown?

The Indians lost to the Warhawks by 37 points back in December, and it still stings. They can erase that bad memory by beating Germantown in the regional finals at Germantown, Saturday at 7 p.m.
According to Falls coach Dan Leffel, his team sturggled earlier in the season. Germantown kicked them while they were down while they were trying to piece their squad together. The Indians improved since December, but now it's March, and they are in a win or go home situation.

The question for the Falls team now is, are they truly ready for the No. 1 team in the state who is undefeated? Some people I talked to at the Falls game Friday said that the Indians didn't stand a chance. So, the only ones who believe they have a chance are the players themselves.

Germantown has a balanced team and can score from the outside and inside. Falls don't have that kind of balance. If the Indians have enough heart to keep the game close, then all they can ask for is a chance to pull off the upset.

Tokoto told me after the game against Waukesha West that they won that his team needs to challenge Germantown's shooters and limit them to one shot on offense. With so many weapons that Germantown have, they would have to have an off night to have their dreams of making state crushed. Remember, it takes one slip up to make the impossible happen.

Zak Showalter, the star senior guard for Germantown, and Tokoto are good friends and probably will play in the Wisconsin high school all-star game this summer and are probably 1 and 2 in the running for state player of the year. They can be all smiles until the opening tip and then it's all business from there.

If Falls loses to Germantown, then it will be the last time we will see Tokoto in a Menomonee Falls uniform. At least he provided enough highlight reel dunks over the four years along with the charisma that matched his celebrity status.
