• Girls Greater Metro Title Showdown in Sussex Thursday

You can bet that there will be a packed house at Sussex Hamilton where history could be made for their girls basketball team at home Thursday. All they have to do to win their first ever Greater Metro Conference title is beat visiting Divine Savior Holy Angels.

If the Chargers are hungry enough, they will get the job done in front of their hometown crowd. And if that happens, the whole town will celebrate through the weekend.

Both teams are 11-2 in the conference heading into the big contest. Hamilton knows that it may be their only chance to dethrone a great girls basketball program that won six of the last nine meetings between the two teams, including a victory over the Chargers at DSHA in January.

While Hamilton was trying to limit freshman sensation Arike Ogunbowale, who had 14 points in their first meeting, it was Caitlyn Coffey who led all scorers with 18. Mackenzie Latt usually scores a bunch of points for Hamilton, but she finished with 10 in that game.

The Chargers would love nothing more than to cut the umbilical cord from the Dashers and put an end to their title hopes this season. DSHA shared the league title with Broookfield Central in 2010 and won it back-to-back in 2006 and 2007.

There will be a lot of shakin' and bakin' going on in the Town of Lisbon, which is where the school is actually located. Read my gameday summary on this crucial matchup for all the marbles to see if Hamilton will paint the town red and black.
