Thanks for visiting our site, and here is a recap of the weekend basketball news in Brew City!!!

    Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks split a pair on the road this weekend, losing Friday in Orlando 94-85, but bounced back in New Jersey behind Ersan Ilyasova's 29 points and 25 boards, taking down the Nets 92-85. That is a monster game for anyone, here are the highlights....

The Bucks are back in action tonight with a chance to avenge Friday's loss as they take on Orlando at 7:00 in the Bradley Center.

Elsewhere in the NBA: Linsanity is out of control, but it has given a major boost to Brown Deer native Steve Novak. Novak has been averaging 12.25 PPG during the 8-1 LinSanity craze, and went 4-5 from 3pt range last night in a win over Dallas.

Playing for the Knicks, it was impossible for Saturday Night Live to pass up an opportunity to take their LinSanity shots.

Bad news for former Marquette star Lazar Hayward, the OKC Thunder forward suffered a nasty injury this week, as he suffered an orbital floor fracture, also known as a 'blowout fracture', resulting from blunt trauma to the facial skeleton around the eye socket.

    Marquette Golden Eagles

The #12 ranked Golden Eagles took care of business on the road this weekend beating UConn 79-64 behind a solid performance by Jae Crowder who led the team with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

The ESPN highlights and box score can be found here. Mark Strottman from Paint Touches has a nice writeup.

With #10 Baylor losing to Kansas State, and #11 UNLV losing twice, the Golden Eagles have a great shot at cracking the top 10. When the new rankings come out, you will find them here.

Up next Buzz Williams' crew hosts Rutgers on Wednesday night at the Bradley Center - 7:00.

    Milwaukee Panthers

Rob Jeter's Milwaukee Panthers hosted a Bracket Busters game on Saturday afternoon at The Cell. After jumping out to big lead, the Panthers fell apart and had to fight off the Stags. Tony Meier's late 3pt shot sealed the 67-64 victory on senior night. Prior to th game Jimmy Lemke had a nice Salute to the Seniors.

The Wisconsin Badgers' battle with Adidas over their manufacturing practices may have an impact with UWM.

Up next the Panthers head to UIC on Thursday to take on the Flames. The game will be on Time Warner Sports 32 at 7:00.

    Wisconsin Badgers

After falling in East Lansing on Thursday, the Badgers were looking for redemption on Sunday as they hosted Penn State. Four players scored in double digits and UW went 11-22 from 3pt, but it was Mike Bruesewitz and Ryan Evans combined 21 rebounds that fueled the Badgers 65-55 victory.

    High School

The state tourney - where to? Keeping high school parents and coaches happy is about the toughest job there is, and now it might get a bit tougher. Rumors now say UW AD Barry Alvarez wants to meet with the WIAA without their leader, Dave Anderson. This is becoming a nightmare. Anderson and the WIAA are in a tough spot. They need to do what is best for the high school basketball tournament, not what is best for anyone else. Whether it is in Green Bay or Madison, it should be the decision of the WIAA, not influenced by anyone else. My guess is that, while the city of Madison won't go down without a fight, the tourney will move to Green Bay and those against it will somehow force Dave Anderson out.

The State football championships are already impossible for casual fans to attend (weekdays, during work hours), let's keep the basketball tournament the way it is, no matter where it is, and consider bring back the 8 D1 teams.

Thanks for coming, and again, Welcome to Brew City Ball!
