In the latest Scout rankings Deonte Burton comes in at #43 and Duane Wilson moves all the way up to #63.

Others to note, Matt Thomas moves up to #87 and Luke Fischer moves up to #94. Bronson Koenig falls out of the top 100. Kendrick Nunn checks in at #42.

You know how this stuff works. Have one off game at one tournament when the Scout evaluators happen to be there and you are downgraded. He is still a top guy and will do well at Wisconsin. Look forward to seeing Koenig and Aquinas take on Wilson and Dominican in Mark Miller's showcase.

Great to see so many state kids in that top 100 list...and selfishly, even more pleased that (arguably the top) two are headed to MU.

Agree with pwh00 that it is great to see so many Wisconsin kids, but also agree with Nuke - Koenig should be in there. Maybe not as high as he was last year (because of the injury) but he certainly should be in there.

Which makes me ask the next question.... each and every year Wisconsin has more kids in the top 100. Each and every year Wisconsin's AAU teams do very well in the big national tournaments. Each and every year Marquette and Wisconsin are in the NCAA tournament.

Yet Wisconsin high school teams never get a sniff of the national top 25 and the networks treat the Marquette vs Wisconsin game as if it is a throw in.

Basketball in the state of Wisconsin have earned some respect, but will we ever get any?

Good point IWB. The class of 2013 in Wisconsin has at least seven kids who likely will head to high-major schools. That is definitely higher than normal, but we also have another 5-7 kids who will go to mid-major DI schools.

A truly outstanding class. Not sure that type of depth will continue, but high school basketbal and AAU hoops has improved and Marquette and Wisconsin are both perennial top 25 programs.

All the 2013 kids are on different high school teams though right. Koenig (Aquinas), Thomas (Onalaska), Fisher (Germantown), Wilson (Dominican), Burton (Vincent)...who am I missing? Plus it seems like Wisconsin high schools don't play much out of state. Neither Germantown nor Dominican played a game outside the state against some of the better teams in the midwest.

Yes, the talent is spread, but look at Germantown last year - Showalter (Wisconsin) Fischer (Indiana) Josh Mongan (Winona State) Dan Studer (Stevens Point, though I think he could play D2). That is a pretty darn good team. No, I don't expect them to crack the top ten because there are so many hoops factories out there, but not even a mention?

Out of state - well, that goes back to the whole basketball factory comment. Playing out of state is very costly, so the one way to do it is to have a tourney want you and help with your costs - (See WBBY.... Chicago De LaSalle, Minneapolis Henry Sibley, Minneapolis St. Thomas, Detroit Romulus, Indianapolis Franklin, Mobile AL LeFlore, Houston Humble Christian Life, Gary, IN Bowman)....... but there is one reason why they came to play in the WBBY - Mark Miller wanted them and worked to make it happen. Nationally/other states don't respect Wisconsin hoops so other than an occasional tourney in Chicago, Wisconsin high schools aren't a sexy draw for big tournaments.

A few MPS schools, usually King and/or Vincent, play out of state events over Christmas break.

Thanks IWB. When was the last time a WI high school team was ranked significantly? Any of the Memorial teams?

Depends on who you go by, but the ESPN Powerade rankings for 2011-12 had Germantown in the top-25. They checked in the final poll at 24:
