Former Buck David Meyers Passes Away

Sad to see at the young age of 62.

Parents were Marquette alums and his father, Bob, was the basketball captain back in the mid 40's. Seems like the family kept up on the Marquette connection as David's sister Ann posted a comment on the Marquette alumni website in 2009 regarding a picture of her dad.

Someone posted a lengthy article on him, his family and the MU connection within the last year or so. Don't recall any mention of his illness so I was surprised when I saw the mention of his death early this morning on the ESPN ticker.

I just remember him being a really active, entertaining guy to watch, but if you were rooting against UCLA or the Bucks you would have hated him - kind of a complement.

I can't remember if it was the '74 NC State NCAA game or the ND game that ended their 88 game win streak where he got off the last, kind of desperation shot off the backboard that missed - I'm thinking the ND game.
