The Bucks trade Ilyasova ti Detroit for two guys they will probably release.

Freeing up money for somebody in addition to Middleton. Lopez maybe?

I could see this coming. Only a matter of what they could eventually get for him. His value has dropped. More freed up cap space to pursue a free agent in July and pay Middleton is better than nothing.

BUCKS ACQUIRE FORWARDS CARON BUTLER AND SHAWNE WILLIAMS FROM PISTONS
Milwaukee trades Ersan Ilyasova to Detroit

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired forwards Caron Butler and Shawne Williams from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for forward Ersan Ilyasova, General Manager John Hammond announced today.

Racine, Wis., native Caron Butler returns to Milwaukee after spending part of the 2013-14 season with the Bucks. In his first stint with Milwaukee, the two-time NBA All-Star averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 24.1 minutes in 34 games (13 starts) before being waived on Feb. 27, 2014. Butler, 35, signed as a free agent with the Oklahoma City Thunder to finish the season before joining the Pistons for 2014-15. Last year in Detroit, Butler posted averages of 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 20.8 minutes through 78 games (21 starts). The Connecticut alum is a 13-year NBA veteran who has seen time with the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers in addition to the Bucks, Thunder and Pistons. He owns career averages of 14.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Williams, 29, has six years of experience in the NBA, having spent time with Indiana, Dallas, New York, New Jersey, the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami and Detroit. Over his career, he has played in 314 games (58 starts) and averaged 5.6 points and 3.0 rebounds. The 6-foot-9-inch product out of Memphis split the 2014-15 season with Miami (44 games, 22 starts) and Detroit (19 games), posting season averages of 5.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Williams was selected 17th overall by the Pacers in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Ilyasova, 28, was the longest tenured player on the Bucks roster having finished his seventh NBA season in Milwaukee. A native of Eskisehir, Turkey, Ilyasova averaged 10.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 453 NBA games (257 starts). He was originally selected by the Bucks with the 35th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, and made his NBA debut in 2006 after spending his first season with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA D-League. Following his rookie campaign in Milwaukee, Ilyasova played two seasons with FC Barcelona of the Spanish League. He re-signed with the Bucks prior to the 2009-10 season and ranks among the Bucks All-Time Career Leaders in 3-point field goals made (6th, 428), attempted (7th, 1,157) and points (19th, 4,844).

If Parker is healthy, Ilyasova is not as valuable to the Bucks. Henson can get minutes as Parker's backup.

Cap space open. Get Lopez with hopes that he liked playing for Kidd in NJ and let Zaza be the backup.

I'm sure the Bucks have an idea who they might be able to get in FA.

Need to draft best player available and just hope that player can hit the 3.

This, and they're super high on Inglis (which is why I don't see them taking Kevon).

I'm not totally sure how it works, but I read that due to Bird rights with Middleton, they could sign him and have $22M to work with.

See #25 - "What are the salary cap exceptions?"

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q17

They can exceed the cap to resign Middleton because they have his "Early Bird" rights. Can offer a minimum of 2 years and maximum of 4 years.
