@JonRothstein: Villanova will host Nebraska as part of the Big East-Big Ten Challenge, source told @CBSSports. Dates expected to be announced this week..

Icky match up as will do little to move the ratings needle.

Ummmmmm, odd choice. Who makes the matchups, the two conferences jointly?

Wow... That is underwhelming... Talk about a huge missed opportunity by both conferences.

So we can expect DePaul and Maryland to be announced soon I guess........

very odd, but now I'm even more intrigued to see who we play knowing now that it's not geographically driven

Not getting my hopes up for Penn State or Rutgers ...

I hope the B10 isn't using this as a way to give marquee opponents to schools that play lesser opponents in the ACC challenge. If the six B10 schools that don't participate are UW, MSU, OSU, Maryland, Michigan and Indiana (or something similar), I will be very disappointed.

Ya gotta wonder at this point.....Hopefully, the BE has not been played....

MU/Wisconsin and Creighton/Nebraska already have yearly game. Any other yearly games we are missing?

The state of Indiana also has the "Crossroads Classic" that will continue at least through 2016. This year, in December, Purdue will play Butler and Indiana will play Notre Dame. In 2016, Butler will play Indiana and Purdue will play Notre Dame. So we can eliminate Purdue/Butler as a matchup in the Big East/Big 10 challenge this year.

Do we know when these are going to be announced? The week is almost over.

Whenever there is bad news MU releases info on Friday afternoon so it gets buried in the news cycle. Maybe we got either Nebraska or Northwestern and they'll announce it this evening so it gets buried.

Are we really sure that we will play in the series this year? We did come in 9th place tied with Creighton, they may just take the top 8 teams in the standings from last year.

Looks to me like a nice move by the Big 10 to bring up the conference RPI.

The Big 10 gets to schedule their bottom to mid level teams in games against the Big East, the second highest conference RPI last year without Seton Hall / Butler.

At first glance, without knowing who stays / goes pro, half appear to be decent match-ups.

Top flight Match-up
G'Town v. Maryland

Good Matchups
MU v. Iowa
Ill @ Providence
Xavier @ Michigan

Regional Interest?
Rutgers @ St. John's
Creighton @ Indiana?

Everyone Plays
Nebraska @ Vill
Penn State v DePaul

Creighton/IU could be a good game. Lots of new pieces for Creighton so we will see how they mesh early.

So maybe the big names from the Big10 aren't playing (OSU, MSU, Madison, Purdue). So let's go out and sweep the darn series and brag throughout the land about it. That will make them a bit more committed to sending their better teams out.

MU @ UW and Butler/Purdue in the Crossroads Classic. They obviously factor that in. Maryland likely to be the pick to win the Big10, they play Georgetown. For an 8 year contract, I don't get the complaints. Each team has to participate a minimum number of times.

In 2016, Maryland will be at Georgetown
