Story about this was on MU FB page I guess and an MU buddy of mine asked for the full audio. Maybe NSFW though. Hard to hear at times.

I remember being home in NY on spring break freshman year at MU and the highlights of his rant was on the local news. Other old-timers like me will remember this, although I've never heard the whole rant.

Classic stuff. Can you imagine a coach doing that today:? He would not be coaching the next game, thats for sure.
The shrewd thing about that rant is Al was making sure the team was treated right by the officals the rest of the way.

Wow. I remember that game. Weird call at the end. Don't remember the exact details. We were lucky to win. Something about a tip-in, but a foul was called, and we got the basket and free throws? Maybe someone can refresh my very hazy memory.

As for Al, one of a kind. I think part of the rant was real, and part of it was for effect (as someone else posted). I do remember the tech. It was absurd!

That was calculated and not a core dump. Al knew what he was doing and it had an impact throughout Marquette's NCAA run in 1977. Over the years he leaned how to push an envelop.

This is fantastic. Probably easier to do when you know you're retiring and there's not much more they can do.

After that technical, Cooley could use a rant like this.
