Butler has officially named Chris Holtmann as its permanent head coach, meaning Brandon Miller is not coming back -- as expected.

I guess not a surprise - he seems like a good up and coming young coach.

Cronin out for the season at Cinci - vascular situation - non-life threatening. Bummer.

Good! Glad to see Holtmann get the job.

I hope Brandon Miller gets his stuff sorted out. Not sure why the sabbatical, but sounds like things aren't going well based on the few reports that were out there.

Great news for Butler, as Holtmann has done an outstanding job this year. Hope this well help them starting recruiting better (not likely, but luring LaVall Jordan back as an assistant/associate head coach would be huge).

I think Butler did the right thing here. Waiting until the spring to decide whether or not to give Holtmann the job permanently would hurt recruiting. Perhaps they could have gotten someone better in the spring but "name" hires do not always produce the best results. Holtmann proved his worth as a coach at Gardner Webb, seems to be a pretty legit dude.

I would think he needs to make a staff change. He promoted a young staffer once he got the interim job - I assume he's keeping the seat warm for a new assistant to be hired in the offseason.
