Thanks and no problem - I support anything and everything that Doddsy does and I am sure he would do the same.

I think the coach's pick up games at the Al should be carried by Fox Sports 1.

One tidbit on Gabe Levin coming to Marquette.

From my limited research, in the last 50 years Marquette has enrolled 4 scholarship basketball players from the West Suburban Conference. Marcus Washington of Lyons Township, Glenn "Doc" Rivers of Proviso East, Brian Wardle of Hinsdale Central and now Gabe Levin of Oak Park - River Forest.

Thanks Mulligan!

I remember a guard that may have been with Crean for one year, Kevin Menard? Can't remember where he was from.

Lincoln Way HS...SW Suburban Conference.

Odd kid. A great example of a highly touted high school kid who did not work out. I watched him play in a NY v. Chicago high school all-star game, and he did OK against some pretty good players. He probably holds the Marquette record for most vicious hits taken per minutes played. He came in twice early in his freshman year for about two minutes, and both times took a complete cheap shot. Then he transferred somewhere else, and as I recall, ended up coming off the bench for a D-3 team. Maybe he decided that the work required for high level D-1 basketball was just not for him.

Did Menard end up at UW-Parkside?

I saw Menard play in high school. I tried real hard to see what Crean saw in him but I could not. He was a good high school player but no way was he high D1 talent. He was overmatched and he knew it. Said so when he left and was very candid about all the work involved only to rust away on the bench.

I am not sure how he made that Chicago All-Star game, but there were some good players in it. Another one was Ron Howard? who played a year at MU then transferred to Valpo. Not a great player, but a good one. Another one was Kenny Amaker who DePaul was after. He changed his mind and went to Hofstra. Another kid named Head? went to Illinois and had a good career despite what I recall as a nasty arrest. So there was some talent there, and people thought Menard belonged. I can certainly see how a guy who is not going to play does not want to work as hard as D-1 players do.
