I would like us to do 1 more HM home and homes. I know we might win less games but our SOS and RPI would be higher plus I would not mind paying the same for one less game. If we did 4 every year (right now 3) and got one less home game. The buy games are worthless for me living in Chicago and I cannot even really give them away.

If we lose, the RPI is not going to be higher. If you need an example, look at the 2013-14 season.

KMWTRUCKS

Does it go higher by beating North West south state college at home? It does not seem like it.

To help RPI we need to schedule less teams with an RPI below 200, it didn't work out well for us last year in that regard... We played more than enough top 50 teams

The problem was the level of the buy games. Need to stay in the 100-200 range for those and get lucky with a couple ending up between 75-100.

The RPI was not helped by losses at UW and ASU, along with New Mexico and SDSU.

Problem was MU was 1-5 vs teams with a pulse in the non-conference.

KMWTRUCKS

The thing is good low major teams can really dictate who they play and how much they get paid. The top 1/2 of mid Majors do not do buy games so its only the bottom 1/2 and low majors and ones that can show that they should be in the to be top 1/3 of there league can get a buy game from just about anyone.

Bruce Rasmussen(Creighton AD) says the Big East is hoping to finalize a scheduling deal with the Pac-12 similar to the previously announced Big Ten deal.

This was from the article linked in a post about BE expansion. http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/content/20140607-kevin-mcnamara-rhodys-instrastate-schools-maintaining-their-distance-in-basketball.ece

Specifically: "What PC’s Driscoll says the league is planning on doing is juicing up Fox’s offerings in the nonconference portion of the season. The recently announced Gavitt Tipoff series with the Big Ten is a great start, and sources said Fox was working to broker a similar partnership between the Pac 12 and Big East."

Sounds like Fox wants it, so I suspect it will get done.

Great for the Big East.
Improve non conference schedules - more home and home games / Gavitt games with Big 10 / Pac 12 games. As MUMac said, if Fox wants it look for it to happen. Plenty of opportunities for TV exposure during non conference with such games - now it is up to the Big East to win them.

Glad G-town and Syracuse are going to be playing, I wish we could do something like that with Louisville.

Sounds like the Genesis of the original Big East - taking on any and all of the big boys from coast to coast with highly promoted TV games. Can't help thinking that surely helps recruiting.

I agree about 'Ville. Would love to get back playing those guys on an annual basis.

Funny how the AD at Creighton is always the one to spill the beans about this stuff.

I want ND as a regular H&H, but don't want Louisville. I still have too much mental scarring from memories I've tried to purge.

That's a very good non-conference schedule. Northern Arizona & IUPUI are the only snoozers in the bunch. Long Beach State and Murray State are traditionally very tough mid majors. FGCU is pretty solid and of course Stephen F. Austin had 30+ wins last year. Excellent schedule.

Broeker's response to the missing non-con game:

@brewcity77 will add one more game but won’t be tied to Orlando. No “snub”, bracketing precluded. ESPN doesn’t facilitate ala Maui.

Of the non-conference schedules listed in this thread and with the exception of the holiday tournament teams that may include some beef, Providence is the only schedule that wows me - some are downright pathetic. 2015-2016 with the Big 10 and PAC 12 set-up can't come soon enough. PC playing 4 ACC teams plus Kentucky.

Well, Xavier has Alabama, Auburn, Missouri and Cincinnati. Seton Hall has stepped it up from last year GW, Wichita State, USF, and Georgia. There home opener is Mercer, who beat Duke in the ncaa tourament. Plus, Mercer beat SH last year. Creighton said they would have never got the H/H with Oklahoma, if still in the MVC.

I think Seton Hall's schedule is also good. Road games at Wichita State and Georgia (12-6 in SEC last year, return all but one key player), and home games with tourney teams last year in GW and Mercer, and 1-2 potentially good games in the Virgin Islands. Not sexy name wise save Wichita State, but pretty good with some evaluation.

No issue with Creighton's schedule either, especially with them incorporating so many guys into different roles. Oklahoma is potential top 10 team, Nebraska a potential top 25 team, Tulsa returns the core of a tourney team, and some solid mid-major games like St. Mary's and NC Central (with former MU player Jamal Ferguson, who I think will thrive for them).
