Greg "The Pope" Johnson is graduating from MU 35 years after he left MU. Was a great athlete. Just never put it all together. Saw him play a lot in high school too. He was great in high school at Pius, hence the nickname "Pope". Unbelievable story and an inspiration. Congrats Pope!!!!!!

Great find, inspiring story. Hopefully, will inspire others to complete their degree.

Who was the dude just to Bo's left in the pic with Mo Lucas? He was ALWAYS at the rec center playing ball during my MU tenure '76 - '80. Was still pretty quick, but played the classic old man ball too.

With the white head band on? That is the Pope. If you mean the shorter guy in front, isn't that Lloyd Walton?

Nope - not LW. I bet your brother knows. The Pope spent a lot of time at the rec center too IIRC.

Pope would dive off the diving board doing twists and flips--he was incredible. Lloyd Walton was #22. If you mean the old guy picture, it is Tatum, Walton, Pope, Bo and Maurice Lucas.

You sure that is Lucky Lloyd? I swear it is another guy.

Here is LW from an interview within the last few years - don't think that is him in the old man photo.
