If true, this happens right after the first evaluation period and just a couple days after Nick Faust announces his intention to transfer there.

Very odd timing to say the least.

Calling Ben Howland?

I mean, his greatest coaching accomplishment is who his sister married. But something has to be up for them to can him now. Gonna be tough to find a coach, and keep a roster intact going into next season.

Two years, 4M$ left on his contract. Robinson has a 6-10 kid from Georgia signed and a 6-8 power forward from Northern California on NLI. This is a the worst timing possible for the Beavers basketball program. It shows how recruiting dynamics can change -- perhaps with this and other late developments Marquette may get front court help.

SI.com says 3 years and more than $4 million left on his contract.

As far as timing, beyond odd.

True fact: One of the most reliable keys to success is choosing your relatives carefully. Yes, the timing is bizarre. Surely something is going on. It just does not make sense to fire a basketball coach right now. My guess would either be some kind of scandal or something along the lines of hiring Howland, as somebody suggested.

With the bad timing of all this the job may go to Howland by default.

If Howland even wants it.

If Howland even wants it.

It would be the first job that Howland did not campaign for this offseason.

He reportedly turned down interest from Washington State. Oregon State is a worse program than that...but the timing is different.

The name being talked about is former assistant David Grace who moved to UCLA to work for Alford.

Look for Damon Stoudamire to be in the mix.
