Seriously, why do some coaches not force players to try this? Short video on NBA players trying the Rick Barry underhanded free throw:

How could someone like Dominic James or Derrick Wilson not be willing to try this if it got them up to 70-80%?

In a UW article in the JS this morning, Traevon Jackson is quoted as saying that they practice FTs so much that they feel confident at the line. The %s bear that out. Buzz, OTOH, never really bothered with FTs leaving it up to the players.

Every game they play involved a free throw, but Buzz' point of this is that practice time was so extremely limited, that he didn't want to take up valuable time on something they should be doing on their own.

UW shot 74.4% and MU shot 69.0%. If you take out Derrick Wilson, MU shot 71.9%, not far off of UW's %. That's 5 more misses out of 200 attempts.

You can play that game with UW as well. Take out Hayes and they shot 78.2% as a team this season. That will happen when you build your team around shooters.
