To see the young man talk about going into surgery and being invited to practice beforehand was very moving.

Chris Otule and Katie having the relationship for years.

Nice story.

Hope the one kid who got emotional, along with the viewing audience, is out of the woods health wise. Hope he ends up at MU down the road. Good to see the pics and video of past team members with all the kids.

We have a son with unique health issues. For a child and the parents there's a real feeling of being alone. The most important thing we can give him is a sense that he is loved and that others are in his corner. That kind of help is as powerful as prescriptions and what medical specialists can provide. It's the power community, faith and prayer. It's clear Coach Williams understand that.

Loved his "thumb's up" walking down the hallway at the end. His bedroom was a shrine to MU, as all kids' bedrooms should be!!

Wow. I am not one to get choked up by videos, but that was really moving. For anybody checking the link mufansince72 was kind enough to post, the link takes you to the article Greg Doyel wrote some time back. The video above when I clicked on it was the highlights of the New Mexico - SDSU game. To find the Buzz's Bunch video, it is in the column to the right under Recent Videos.

The adversity the MU players went through this year is nothing to the national championship they delivered to these families off the court. #Perspective

I'd just like to say F you to all the Badger fans that rip Buzz and call him scuzz etc. They can kiss my ass. You know what?? When I woke up this morning, on typically my favorite day of the year(Selection Sunday), and knowing MU wasn't going to be a part of it, I didn't know how I'd get through the day. Then I watched this video, I cried, and it put things in perspective for me. As far as I'm concerned, MU IS the true national champion.

Thanks UJ. I originally clicked the video for the highlights and thought it was linked for the article. I went back and watched. WOW. That was a powerful piece. I said it when the article came out, Buzz is a perfect fit for Marquette. I am proud to have Buzz lead MU and be the face of the program. First class, or as Al would say, top shelf!

Yeah, there are some losers over there. I think it is mostly a handful who just have a ridiculous irrational hatred for Marquette. For some, it is a need to feel superior to somebody, or the need to identify so strongly with a college athletic team that they feel a need to despise all rivals. For some, it is nothing more than anti-Catholic bigotry. The one that sticks out to me is the guy who went to UWM undergrad and is still furious that Marquette doesn't want to give them a home game any time soon. His latest obsession is how Jake Thomas was kicked off the team last year and deprived of his promised scholarship to make way for a freshman, and only got it back when Blue went pro. I am sure it did not help his mood when Jake quit considering spending his last year at UWM. Of course, anybody who paid any attention to the matter realizes that Jake was supposed to be a walk-on, but ended up on scholarship for three years. Boy, that is a raw deal! One of the people there saw the earlier article about Buzz's Bunch and compared Buzz to Hitler and Jeffrey Dahmer. What a pathetic bunch of people!

But of course, they are a fringe minority. Few UW fans, and even fewer UW alums, think that way. Yes, there are going to be a good bunch who denigrate the Marquette program, but they can mostly be ignored, and they will mostly stop if you ignore them. And the debates in offices will continue. We will have our bragging rights soon enough. UW is a fine university. There are things there one cannot get at Marquette. What UW supporters do not understand, and some truly resent, is that there are things at Marquette that one cannot get at UW, like an emphasis and respect for faith. That is the thing that allows someone like Buzz to thrive at Marquette, when he might not elsewhere. That is why Marquette fans can be proud of him if his team finishes 17-13. That is something some blind UW fans are never going to understand, poor bastards. They are people we should choose to ignore.

When MU was beaten this week, the UWM undergrad had this to say, "It couldn't happen to a finer leader of men and trainer of husbands."

As was mentioned in the story, Buzz says there are a lot of coaches doing things and Bo Ryan raises a ton of money for cancer research. No need to pile on and I appreciate what Bo Ryan is doing outside of his basketball exploits.

When the SMU situation was going on, Buzz said "I'm not leaving Chris/Jae/Junior, etc."

I wonder how hard it would be to leave these kids...

Honest opinion, I think Marquette embracing Buzz's Bunch and going along with his request to never limit its scope is one of the things that could very well keep him here for the long term. Not every school will go along with that, and that's not the kind of thing it's easy to just walk away from.

I do not do Twitter, so I did not see that one, but he got that off the Rodentville board from our Buddy Fran, who is still mad that Marquette will not promote the wanna be's across town. He was also the one who took great offense to Jake Thomas being "cut."

Really, this group gets more bothered by UW fans than any other group of MU fans I have seen. I guess that means that the UW fans are getting the results they want.

Weren't you a guy that spent a lot of time on the UW boards a while back always trying to set them straight? Seems to me if YOU weren't bothered by what they said, why spend so much time on their boards? Just sayin. Please show me ONE post anywhere that I whine about UW fans. You won't find one. In real life(not message boards), I will call out anyone that throws bs about MU out there. It's what those of us that live this stuff have to do. Not whining. You are a hypocrite for having spent time posting on their boards and even telling people that you enjoyed it(which I actually had no problem with). Yet you are suggesting that we shouldn't be bothered by what they say. You were bothered enough to actually go to their boards and engage them.
