What a start by Jamil...!

Dawson having a rough first half. Have gone a few minutes in a row without a point.

Amazing how this team can flash why they were picked to finish first and then remind you why they are who they are in the same half.

Not much defense from the young guys.

I like the amount of rest Davante has had. He should be in good shape down the stretch.

Wow....Everything going great then Derrick gets 2 fouls. How many turnovers did we have? Seemed like 15.......

Nice half for Juan and Jamil......Defense in the last 10 minutes or so was almost non existent.....

If people are going to selectively rag on Derrick this game is exhibit A as to why he is valuable and why the freshmen minutes are limited.

Seton Hall at full strength now with Teague in the game and MU is going to have a tough time coming back, especially if Seton Hall continues to hit 3's.

It is almost impossible to beat a team when you allow them to shoot and make tons of 3's......

Might be the most aggressive I've ever seen Jamil on the boards.

Result of over reliance in help D. Leaves the wings open. Been that way since TC.

Gutty win....could have folded when they made all those 3s......finally finished a game in the right way.......great free throw shooting and maybe the best all around game of Jamil's career.....

Nice to see Derrick knock down 3 out of 4 from the line late as well.......

Must win, and a big win. Way to go guys. Free throws and the offensive glass were key to overcome SH 3 pointers.

Todd Mayo with 9-10 FTs and an all around good game. A huge factor along with Jamil.

Random thoughts: As frustrating as DWil is, tonight showed how he is the best of bad options. Burton is going to be very good, but some of his decisions tonight were questionable, at best. More empty seats that Hall than in Sochi. Overall a great TEAM win, as it took good play from numerous guys. Mayo had a WTF? moment but was very good otherwise. Guess he didn't pull a Todd...

Tarik Turner finally commented that Mayo was fouled before the pass, as I noticed that on the first replay and the ref right there was oblivious to it all (Buzz should have gotten a TO there also).

Tonight felt like a Buzz style Marquette win. Overcome adversity along the way with Hall throwing in so many threes (and a few of them were heavily contested) and turn up the heat at the end at both ends. This team can still win a lot of games if it always fights this hard, but it will need to fit this hard to overcome a lack of team skill.

Good to hear all the comments. I was at Disney, which does not show Fox Sports (damn ESPN). Yes, I mentioned Disney because I could not see the game, but also because it was 84 today! Watching on-line, you just don't get a feel for who is playing well, and who is struggling. Yes, Jamil with 14 of the first 16 stood out. Other than that, it looked like Mayo was a non-factor. Again, it shows that stats only tell you so much about the game.

for what it is worth, someone mentioned after one of the more recent losses that no one on this team would dive for a ball like someone did for some other team. No matter how poorly we shoot or play this year I continue to believe that they are still giving it their all every game regardless of results. If someone needs it pointed out, see d. gardner and j wil diving for the ball near the end of the game.

good game for the good guys. incredible from the line.

Actually what was good about Mayo is that even though he didn't shoot well, he played in control, made some great passes, and got to the FT line. Pretty solid effort actually.

7 points, 5 assists and 0 turnovers - I am happy with Derrick's performance.

MUMac - I hear you, didn't see it live, just watched it via DVR because I went out to dinner. For those of you that listened to our radio show last week would know, the best gift a wife could get on her anniversary is an MU road win!

Yep, Todd was solid tonight on the road. Shots did not drop, but a very good effort.

Huge win. Can only afford one more loss I figure and can't have it vs. one of the average teams. Go 12-6 and we are strongly in the discussion to make it.

Pretty sure they can afford two losses, and then a third at some point in the BET. At least that's how Buzz views it.

I would agree-but would feel much comfortable with 12-6 rather than 11-7 with our losses being against Nova and Creighton yet. 12-6 means we beat a top 15 team.

A lot of people have been saying this for awhile and I completely disagree. If we only have one loss, it makes absolutely no difference who it is to. Why? Because that means wins at 'Nova and Providence and at home against Creighton and Xavier. Win those 4 games and go 2-1 in the other three and who we lose to will be irrelevant.

EDIT: Ran the numbers quick through RPIWizard.com. Here's the RPI disparity based on who we lose to if we only lose 1...

Xavier: 46
Creighton: 45
DePaul: 44
Georgetown: 45
Villanova: 44
Providence: 44
St. John's: 45

So yeah...doesn't matter who we lose to. I get the argument that losing to one of the middle teams gives them another win, but at the end of the day, we will be judged on our resume, not anyone else's, and if we pick up all the big scalp wins left on the schedule, we'll be fine no matter who the one loss comes to.

That said, I'd rather just see them run the table, finish no worse than 3rd in the league, and lock it up before we get to MSG ;D

I heard somewhere that by Saturday we could be playing Xavier for sole possession of 3rd place in conference

No, Xavier played and won at Butler last night and its next game is at MU. If MU wins, we'll be tied with Xavier for 3rd place.
