View Full Version : Milwaukee Recruits

I'm not sure in my lifetime if the Milwaukee area has produced the number of high major recruits in successive years that the area will have from 2013 through at least 2015. Deonte Burton, Duane Wilson Jr. and Fischer in 2013, Kevon Looney in 2014, Diamond Stone in 2015 and there are probably others who you could add to this list going forward. Phillip Nolan may even fit for 2012.

Lots of good talent. Burton is a great pickup for Marquette. Wilson, Looney and Stone will all be recruited at a high level. Getting a couple of those players would be huge for Buzz Williams and the program.

I'm still not sold on Fischer, but he does have talent. In the past month I have done a 360 on Duane Wilson. I had thought he was good, but not great, but the last three games I have seen him in the kid has been outstanding.

If there is an opening at MU, and it is even close between a guy like Nunn and Wilson, I'd consider grabbing Wilson and hope that he can keep in the ear of Diamond Stone about the need to come to MU. It would also be a good year to grab a point guard.
If Buzz can get Looney and Stone at MU, to go along with the other talent he has been bringing in - look out.

Mark - what is your take on Jon Carson at Messmer?
I've watched him since he was young and it may be the football guy in me but I've long thought that kid could really be a football player.

I know Carson plays football. I haven't seen him play basketball since last summer, but he has good instincts and a great body. Not quite Deonte Burton, but not too far behind. He's a tweener for basketball, but could be a great fullback in football.

mark - I see you have Deonte Burton as your #1 listed junior with a height of 6'6". Is that a height provided to you, and do you think he has grown to 6'6"?

He's not 6-6. I'd say 6-5 at the most. Not sure where that came from.
