I don't remember this guy - was he a decent contributor for Xavier?

Maryland swingman Dez Wells is suing his former school, Xavier, and its president for what he claims was a wrongful expulsion, according to a complaint filed in a federal court that was obtained Tuesday night by USA Today.

According to the USA Today report, Wells filed the lawsuit, which was first reported by Yahoo! Sports, in the US Southern District Court of Ohio on Tuesday seeking damages over the fallout from his expulsion from Xavier, which came after a July 2012 allegation of sexual assault.

He was a frosh who, I believe, started and had a good future. He was expelled for student violations, resulting from the Sexual Assault allegations. No charges were filed, as the Grand Jury declined to charge.

Yeah, he was on the A10 freshman team and was expected to be a leading contributor on last year's team. There was an allegation of sexual assault...a conduct board reviewed the case and recommended that he be expelled...the DA decided not only to not press charges, but then called out the University for their rush to judgement.

I have no idea if this suit has any merit. However I'm glad he filed it because Xavier threw a kid with no prior record of causing any trouble under the bus real early - and then got egg on their face because of it.

I do wonder if MU, under the current administration, would have done the same thing. Overreact. Because of what happened in the past. Did Xavier overreact, in part, because of the negative press MU and ND received? I do not know, but that would not surprise me.

I would hope not...but who knows. Going back into the Scoop archives, I found this article that came out after his expulsion but prior to the DA refusing to press charges. Talk about a hysterical load of bullsh*t. I would hope that everyone from the press, to the administration wouldn't carry pitchforks like this guy does.
